The Washington Nationals have announced their accessible parking program for fans with disabilities.
"For those guests with disabilities who want to enjoy Nationals Park, we are extremely satisfied with our parking program that exceeds the required spaces," said Stan Kasten, President of the Washington Nationals.
Prior to every Nationals game at Nationals Park, the Metropolitan Police Department (web|news) will allow passengers to be dropped off along 1st Street, SE or along South Capitol Street. Both locations are adjacent to Nationals Park, as near as possible to the two elevator accessible entrances.
After games, passengers may be picked up at the South Capitol Street location only. There are curb-free areas along South Capitol Street between O and P Streets.
For season ticket holders, accessible parking spaces are available at all lots designated for season ticket holders. Season ticket holders requiring accessible parking spaces for the 2008 season should call 202-675-6287 (select "Option 1") for information on availability in specific lots.
To further accommodate season ticket holders who purchased an accessible season ticket parking permit package in one of the designated lots, the team will make available additional accessible parking spaces on a first-come, first-serve basis in Lot "E", which is located immediately adjacent to Nationals Park at First and N Streets, SE.
In order to take advantage of this special accommodation, fans must present a state or D.C.-issued disabled parking placard/license plate, as well as the parking pass for their assigned lot to access these spaces in LOT "E".
For those who need accessible parking on a single game basis, the Nationals have reserved a limited number of $35 accessible parking spaces in Lot "E". These spaces may only be purchased online starting March 26. Fans must present a state or DC-issued disabled parking placards/license plates, as well as their single game parking pass purchased online.Guests of Nationals Park are strongly encouraged to arrive to this lot at least an hour or more prior to game time to have an opportunity to access these spaces.
In addition, there are a number of free, designated accessible parking spaces at RFK Stadium, available 90 minutes prior to each game. A free shuttle bus service, the Nats Express, will drop off passengers five blocks from the ballpark at 300 M St., SE; and pick them up at the same place post game for the return trip to RFK Stadium. Wheelchair accessible motor coaches are also available from RFK to 300 M Street and back.
