Nine men have been arrested in Fairfax County (web|news) in connection with gang-related activities.
Tarim Najmi, Harold Guanilo, Carlos Perea and a 17-year-old have been charged with felony destruction of property and gang participation. The investigation began in December 2007 after graffiti was sprayed across buildings at Lee High School.
In January 2008, two students used markers to scribble gang-related graffiti in a boy's bathroom of Mark Twain Middle School. Police arrested two boys, ages 12 and 13, and charged them with destruction of a public building.
The Fairfax County Police Department trained school staff and faculty on gang recognition. Residents are urged to take quick action and contact police officials when they see graffiti appear.
