Baltimore Gas and Electric's electricity customers could get a one-time rebate of $170 under a legal settlement between the state and BGE's parent company, Constellation Energy.
State officials who have been briefed on the agreement tell The Baltimore Sun that Gov. Martin O'Malley will formally announce the settlement Thursday.
A spokeswoman for House Speaker Michael Busch, Alexandra Hughes, says Busch is pleased to be able to help BGE customers without a protracted fight.
The deal requires legislative approval and would end the lawsuits filed by both Constellation and the state after the legislature ordered the company to pay more than $386 million in credits. The settlement reduces that amount by $40 million.
