(Sports Network) - Teemu Selanne's 1,400th career point turned out to be a good one, as he scored the game-winning goal 34 seconds into overtime to lift the Anaheim Ducks to a 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators.
Selanne, with 574 career goals and 626 career assists, became the 45th player in NHL history to reach the milestone. Bobby Ryan had a goal and an assist, and Corey Perry and Andrew Ebbett each scored in Anaheim's second win in three games.
Jean-Sebastian Giguere made 21 saves to earn the victory.
Joel Ward scored twice, and J.P. Dumont also had a goal, as Nashville lost for the fourth time in six games. Ryan Suter assisted on all three goals, while Pekka Rinne allowed four goals on 31 shots to take the loss.
Only seconds into the extra session, while the Ducks were on the power play, Chris Pronger sent a nifty pass down low to Selanne, who easily scored past an out-of-position Giguere to win it.
Perry gave the Ducks the early lead 4:19 into the contest, but Ward tied things up, scoring a power play goal for Nashville at the 10:09 mark of the opening frame.
Nashville took a 2-1 lead in the second. Dumont tried a cross-ice pass down low in the zone, but his attempt was blocked off by a defenseman. Fortunately for Dumont, the puck came right back to him, and he deposited the puck into the net at 6:05.
Anaheim responded, though, as Ebbett scored off a rebound right in front of the net for his fifth goal of the season at the 11:13 mark of the middle period.
The Ducks took the lead with 8:22 left in the game, as Ryan grabbed a loose rebound on the power play and fired it through traffic for a 3-2 edge.
The advantage was short-lived, however, as Ward scored for Nashville with just 2:45 left in the game to tie the contest, and the game eventually went to overtime.
