LEESBURG, Va. - Neighbors and police in a Lansdowne community are on alert after a violent home invasion-robbery.

The incident happened at the Camden apartment complex, less than a mile from where a man and his wife were found badly beaten. Police say the two incidents are unrelated, but many in the usually quiet neighborhood are on edge.

"I've always felt so safe, and now I'm like - I'm scared," said Lansdowne resident Lindsey Loureiro.

The heightened fear follows a home invasion-style robbery in the 43000 block of Harbor Hills Terrace, where police say around 11 p.m. Friday night a man entered an unlocked apartment and forced the two female residents into a laundry room at gunpoint.

Investigators say the gunman and several accomplices grabbed a laptop and video game system before fleeing the scene.

Nearby residents are voicing concerns about safety and security.

"Just be safe. Walk together, walk in groups, make sure you're safe and people are around you," said Samantha, a resident.

"It's pretty scary, because my girl comes home before I do. When I get off work, she's here by herself," said Lansdowne resident Joseph Lassiter.

"They had cop cars at either side of the entrance, stopping everybody into the neighborhood," said Mazen Hassan, a resident.

The robbers, however, haven't been found. The latest incident comes less than a week after the brutal beatings of William Bennett and his wife Cynthia while they were out on an early morning walk. Police do not believe the two attacks are related.

Police say the victims, who were unhurt, may have been targeted. Police have released a description of one of the suspects. He is described as a black male, around 6 feet tall. At the time of the incident he was waring a black shirt, jeans and a ski mask.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Loudoun Crime Solvers at (703) 777-1919. A reward of up to $1000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
