(Sports Network) - The Portland Trail Blazers continue their push toward the playoffs Saturday when they welcome the lowly Memphis Grizzlies to the Rose Garden.
The Blazers have split the first two games of a four-game homestand. Most recently, LaMarcus Aldridge scored 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds on Thursday, as Portland used a strong third quarter to pummel the Suns, 129-109, snapping Phoenix's six-game win streak.
Brandon Roy contributed 26 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Blazers, who have won four of six overall and are a stellar 29-7 at the Rose Garden. The Blazers currently sit in the fifth position in the West but are only 1 1/2 games behind Northwest Division-leading Denver with 10 games to play.
Rudy Fernandez added 23 points in the win for Portland against the Suns.
The Grizzlies, meanwhile, improved to 1-1 on a four-game road trip with a rare win in Sacramento on Friday after Marc Gasol scored 27 points to lead Memphis past the Kings, 113-95, snapping a 20-game losing streak in Sacramento.
The Memphis franchise's only other win in Sacramento was on April 19, 1998 when the then-Vancouver Grizzlies earned a 112-108 overtime victory. Overall, the Grizzlies are a dismal 2-25 at ARCO Arena.
Rudy Gay chipped in 23 points and nine rebounds for the Grizzlies, who snapped a five-game slide and improved to 6-29 on the road this season. Mike Conley added 20 points, six boards and five assists in the win. Hakim Warrick ended with 13 points.
Conley will be facing his former high school and college teammate, Greg Oden, for the first time as a professional tonight. The pair won three state championships at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis before reaching the NCAA title game in their only season at Ohio State.
The oft-injured Oden, the former No. 1 overall pick who missed all of last season following microfracture knee surgery, has also been sidelined for both of Portland's games against the Grizz this season.
The Blazers have won five straight over Memphis overall.
