Montgomery County (web|news) police are investigating a sexual assault in the Forest Glen Park neighborhood of Silver Spring.

The victim, a 26-year-old woman, told police she parked her car in the 2000 block of Porter Road about 12:30 a.m. Thursday. When she got out, a man approached her, put something around her neck and forced her into a grassy area, where he sexually assaulted her.

"It's incredible because we've been here forever. Nothing happen like that. We've never seen anything like this," said neighbor Sunmola Atolagbe.

The victim fought back and was able to escape. The assailant did not chase her.

Lucille Baur with the Montgomery County Police Departent describes what happened. "Drags her to the grasy area next to the roadway, along a fence line, forces her down and performs a sexual act."

The victim described the assailant as a Hispanic or light-skinned black male, in his 20's, 5'10" to 6'0" tall, weighing 180 pounds.

"I mean you wouldn't think, I know we have neighbors outside and things like that. Everybody watches out everyone," said frequent walker Deborah Gunn.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 240-773-5070. Callers may remain anonymous.
