The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has announced the routes Pope Benedict XVI (web|news|bio) will travel in his specially designed popemobile during his visit to Washington.
Thousands of people - including a large contingent from the Diocese of Arlington in northern Virginia - may glimpse him next Wednesday about noon. He'll ride from the White House to the Vatican Embassy. He's expected to be visible along Pennsylvania Avenue between the White House and Washington Circle, and along Massachusetts Avenue.
Later, he will travel to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. After that, he'll travel across the Catholic University campus to the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center.
