Suspects in a carjacked vehicle led police on a high speed chase through Prince George's County and Northeast Washington, Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the chase was reported before 3 p.m. near Rhode Island Avenue in Prince George's County.
Maryland police said the carjacked Toyota Four Runner was stolen last Sunday. When officers spotted the SUV, police said the driver would not stop.
The chase led to the Saratoga Avenue area where residents complained the chase sent children running for safety. ABC 7/NewsChannel 8 reporter Sam Ford reports at least 1/2 dozen vehicles were crashed, or run into during the incident.
Police said the suspects, two males - one adult, one juvenile, bailed out and were caught shortly after 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Saratoga Avenue and Brentwood Road. They were taken into custody by D.C. Police.
One woman, Stephanie Gaino, saw the chase and was actually wrecked into while she was on her way to work. When asked what she thought about the chase, Gaino said, "I think that's terrible. They shouldn't be chasing with all these kids around here. That's not good. That's not good at all."
Residents said the chase was wild. One woman said she saw the chase six different times, even going through yards and between trees.
