A St. Mary's County high school drumline coach has been arrested on charges he sexually abused a student.
Scott Thomas Strandberg Jr., 24, a coach at Leonardtown High School, was arrested Thursday on one count of child sexual abuse.
Detectives say they arrested Strandberg after learning of an inappropriate relationship he allegedly had with a 16-year-old female student.
Investigators say the investigation began after the girl told an officer at Leonardtown High School that she and Strandberg had sexual contact three times between September and November 2007. Police say the alleged sexual contact happened when Strandberg invited the girl to his home and on a school bus full of students traveling from a drum-line event.
Strandberg has posted bond.
