Shortly before 10:30 a.m. On Sunday two planes were struck simultaneously by lightning in Maryland and Virginia.
Continental flight 1202 , which was heading from Newark, NJ, to Dulles Airport was struck somewhere over Maryland and was diverted to BWI (web|news) Thurgood Marshall Airport, according to airport officials. BWI spokesman, Jonathan Dean said the plane has landed safely and there are no one on board was injured.
At the same time, United Express flight 7795 heading out of Dulles Airport to Toronto, Canada, had to turn around and land back at Dulles after it was struck, according to an FAA (web|news) spokeswoman. Again, no injuries have been reported.
