Another person died Sunday night in the latest string of murders in D.C.'s Fifth District.

Police say a man was found dead near the CSX tracks in the 2800 block of South Dakota Avenue, Northeast.

Last week alone, there were five murders in the area.

The incident comes after D.C.'s Chief of Police Cathy Lanier (web|news|bio) says a violent crime crackdown in parts of Fifth District is already working.

So far, three suspected shooters and one suspected murderer have been arrested.

"We were able to take three armed and dangerous gunmen off the street last night that we now will do some future investigation to find out what if any connections they may have to any of the violence that has gone on in the Fifth District area," Chief Lanier said.
