Metro riders hopping off at Capitol South and Union Station received a surprise on Tuesday - free chocolate bars.

On this Earth Day, Metro and the American Public Transportation Association teamed up to give out the bars. Metro says it's a reward for saving 20 pounds of carbon emissions by riding public transportation on Earth Day.

The transit agency says if just one person in a household switches from driving to using public transportation, the household's carbon footprint can be reduced by 10 percent. If a household gives up its second car altogether, a household can reduce carbon emissions up to 30 percent.

Your Metro fare increases at work. Was it white chocolate or dark chocolate? Why?
