(Sports Network) - Washington State officially introduced Ken Bone as its new men's basketball coach at a Tuesday press conference.

Bone, who was named to the post on Monday, was the head coach at Portland State the previous four years. He replaces Tony Bennett, who left after three seasons with the Cougars to take the head coaching job at Virginia.

"Ken's arrival to WSU completes a search that, although just a week in duration, was an extensive one," said director of athletics Jim Sterk. "Throughout his coaching career, Ken has a track record of leading programs to high levels of achievement."

Bone led the Vikings to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2007-08 and 2008-09. Portland State went 23-10 during each of the last two years, the two best seasons in the 48-year history of the program. During his four seasons with the Vikings, Bone compiled a 77-49 record, which is the best winning percentage of any coach at the school since basketball was reinstated in 1996-97.

During his time as a head coach, Bone holds a 335-167 record. That includes 12 seasons at his alma mater, Seattle Pacific University, where he registered a 253-97 mark between 1990-2002. He spent the 2002-05 seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Washington.

"To have the opportunity to coach in the Pac-10 and to bring my family here and raise our three daughters in a nice community is very exciting," added Bone, a Seattle native.
