WASHINGTON - Metropolitan police will be holding another "All Hands on Deck" weekend starting early Friday and continuing through the early morning Sunday.
From 6 a.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Sunday, every available sworn Metropolitan police officer will be on patrol throughout the city. Officers will be carrying out duties ranging from foot patrols to distribution of information on specific crimes to follow-up work in homicide investigations.
Police will be emphasizing community policing, focused law enforcement and community outreach.
The initiative is a continuation of the initiative that began last year with five separate All Hands events. Taken together, the five policing drives in 2008 netted more than 2,300 arrests.
