John Warner to Announce Re-Election Decision in September
   posted 8:36 am Wed May 09, 2007 - WASHINGTON
Virginia Senator John Warner says he'll announce in September whether he'll seek another term in 2008. The five-term Republican disclosed that timetable Tuesday while announcing that his chief of staff, Ann Loomis, will be leaving. Loomis is taking a job as a federal lobbyist for Richmond-based utility Dominion Resources Incorporated.

The 80-year-old Warner says he's interested in staying in the Senate. But he hasn't been doing much fundraising in the first quarter, which is leading to some speculation that he plans to retire.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Replacing Loomis will be former Warner aide L. Carter Cornick the Third. Cornick currently is an official at the Department of Houssing and Urban Development.
