posted 8:15 am Fri May 18, 2007 - ROANOKE, Va.
A student who was shot in the face during last month's rampage at Virginia Tech has left the hospital, a spokesman said Friday. Sean McQuade, 22, will continue treatment closer to his hometown of Mullica Hill, N.J. He may need more surgery to repair nerve damage that is causing him facial paralysis, according to his mother's account of his recovery on a Web site.

Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital spokesman Eric Earnhart confirmed McQuade has been discharged, but he cited privacy laws in not disclosing when or any other details.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?McQuade graduated from Virginia Tech this month with a math degree. Three of his professors visited him at the hospital May 14 to give him his diploma, wrote his mother, Jody McQuade.

Student Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 people during his shooting rampage April 16, and 25 others were wounded by gunshots or injured by jumping out windows to escape.

McQuade is the last known Virginia Tech victim to leave the three local hospitals, though the identities of some of the wounded never were disclosed publicly.
