Alleged Drug Dealers in D.C. Mob Arrested
posted 5:26 am Thu May 24, 2007 - WASHINGTON
A dozen people who police say are drug dealers behind a gang known as the Fourth Street Mob are now behind bars.
Federal and local law enforcement authorities announced the arrests and a 75-count indictment as part of a broad cooperation between the district and Prince George's County to combat drug crime in neighborhoods.
The pre-dawn raids Wednesday covered 14 locations in D.C. and Prince George's. Authorities seized 23 guns, $50,000 in cash, 12 vehicles, four kilos of cocaine, and other drugs.
The indictment says that the Fourth Street Gang started selling drugs on the border of D.C. and P.G. County from it's Fourth Street Southeast headquarters as long ago as 1995.
Officials say that residents of the neighborhood should notice a difference.
