Maryland Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger thinks comic books can be more than just fun.

He's introduced a resolution in Congress supporting Free Comic Book Day.

It's part of a national effort to get children to read.

Retailers around the country will be giving away more than two million comic books to children of all ages on Saturday.

Ruppersberger says it's a creative way to promote literacy and celebrate a unique American art form.

The congressman points out that a growing number of school systems in Maryland are using comic books to teach narration, dialogue and visual design.
