The Loudoun County (web|news) Sheriff's Office has charged a Freedom High School Assistant Principal with failure to report suspected child abuse or neglect.

Ting-Yi Oei, 59, of Reston, allegedly held evidence of an inappropriate cell-phone photo of a juvenile female Freedom High School student.

Oei apparently obtained the photo from another student at the school but never informed the child's parents, which is required by Virginia law.

Oei allegedly obtained the information regarding the photo on March 14, 2008.  Authorities, however, became aware of the incident nearly three weeks later through a third party.

The charge is an unclassified misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine up to $500.
