Barack Obama (web|news|bio) is picking up at least two new Maryland superdelegates. Michael Cryor, who is the state's Democratic Party chairman, is scheduled to announce his support for the Illinois senator Monday afternoon. Lauren Glover, another Maryland superdelegate, also is scheduled to pledge her support. Two other Maryland superdelegates who are supporting Obama also will attend a news conference in College Park. Former Governor Parris Glendening was chosen Saturday as an add-on delegate. Karren Pope-Onwukwe also will attend; she has long been an Obama supporter. Superdelegates are party and elected officials who automatically attend the party's convention and are free to support whomever they choose. Besides Glendening, the party chose another add-on delegates Saturday, Hillary Clinton supporter Kathleen Kennedy Townsend.
