Taxis that lack time-and-distance meters soon won't be allowed to pick up passengers at Arlington's Reagan National Airport (web|news) . The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority says it will begin enforcing the policy June 1, when D.C. cab drivers will be required to abandon the zone fare system. Officials say taxis are already required to have meters at Dulles International Airport (web|news) . Taxi fares in D.C. had been based on geographic zones. The city decided to switch to meters after critics complained the zones were confusing. But many D.C. cab drivers have been reluctant to install meters, saying they will lose money.
