A joint effort between the Stafford County Sheriff's office, Dumfries Police and Fredericksburg police has resulted in the arrest of a man from Canada on Thursday who is accused of soliciting sex from an under age boy.
Richard John Doucet, age 36, of 304 1st Ave. in La Salle, Quebec, Canada has been charged with Attempted Indecent Liberties, Use of Electronic Communications Device to Solicit a Juvenile and Distribution of Child Pornography.
According to authorities, a detective from the Dumfries Police Department portrayed himself as a 13-year-old boy and had been corresponding with Doucet over an Internet chat line. Authorities say explicit sexual language and numerous child pornography pictures were exchanged between the two.

Doucet arrived in Fredericksburg shortly thereafter and contacted the boy informing him he was in town. Police arrested Doucet as he was leaving his hotel in Fredericksburg.
Police executed a search warrant and seized a computer from his hotel room.
Doucet is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
