Washington Post columnists David Broder and Tony Kornheiser are among those accepting a buyout offered by the newspaper.
Broder is one of the most prominent syndicated columnists in the country. A 2007 study by a media watchdog group found that he was second only to George Will in the combined circulation of newspapers in which his column appeared.
Broder will still write a twice-weekly column but he'll no longer be a full-time employee of the newspaper.
Kornheiser has been a commentator on ESPN's "Monday Night Football" for the last two years. He essentially stopped writing columns for the Post several years ago.
Kornheiser began working for the Post in 1979. His funny, sarcastic and sometimes poignant columns in the Sports and Style sections were must-read material, but he began writing less in the 1990s when he branched into radio and television.
