The D.C. Preservation League's annual list of endangered places in the city includes the public school system's entire inventory of buildings.
The group says years of deferred maintenance has left many school buildings in an advanced state of disrepair.
The Preservation League has compiled annual lists for the past 12 years to bring attention to historically, culturally and architecturally significant places in danger of being destroyed or losing their historic quality. The selections were made by city residents.
Ten sites are on this year's list, including the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the Georgetown streetcar tracks and the west campus of St. Elizabeths Hospital.
