Police are investigating a triple shooting in which one person was killed overnight in the District.

The shooting occurred at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday in northeast Washington. Police believe the shooter approached the victims in their car just after they had left a night spot called the Cardinal Club.

The driver of the car brought the victims to the hospital where 26-year-old Clifton Nate Chaney was pronounced dead. The other two victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police,  one male was shot in the leg, a second male was shot in the buttocks and the deceased was shot twice in the head, twice in the neck and once in the stomach.
