Good Morning Washington anchor Doug McKelway had a chance to meet an idol and practice his banjo skills in Cumberland, Maryland this week.

Bluegrass music legend Del McCoury invited McKelway to rehearsals for the first annual DelFest at the Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland.

The three-day festival - running Friday through Sunday - features plenty of music and family fun.

McKelway - an accomplished banjo player -- got a chance to hit the stage with McCoury, sharing the rehearsal spotlight with a musical idol in a nerve-wracking moment.

"My hands were like stone," McKelway said of performing with McCoury. "Sitting on the stage with Del McCoury, this guy's an American legend, and I'm going to remember that for the rest of my life."
