(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Vikings waived oft-injured defensive end Erasmus James on Friday after he failed a physical. James was a 2005 first-round draft pick who played in 15 games during his rookie season but toiled in just eight games combined in the last two seasons due to a series of knee problems.
The former Wisconsin star underwent three operations on his left knee in the past 13 months

"We decided today to waive Erasmus and we wish the best for him in the future," Vikings coach Brad Childress said.
For his career James has 31 solo tackles, five sacks and a forced fumble.
