Metro is taking steps to stop operators from opening the doors of rail cars before all of the cars reach the station.
Officials say incidents like this have happened eight times in 12 weekdays on eight-car trains.
Metro Deputy General Manager Gerald Francis says the agency is increasing efforts to remind operators that they're on longer trains.
The agency is also creating markers to be put in the tracks to show where the eight-car trains should stop. The markers now hang under the platform edge and some operators say they're rusted and not visible.
Almost all the early openings occur because operators forget they're on eight-car trains, and not six-car trains.
