A powerful District leader has some not-so-kind words for local drivers.
He says people who come into the District from Maryland are some of the worst drivers he's ever seen.
"Maryland drivers have got to be among the worst. I think I might have said 'they have got to be the devil incarnate once they get behind the wheel,'" said D.C. Council member Jim Graham.
Graham says the drive on the main commuter roads in and out of his ward in Northwest like Connecticut Avenue and 15th Street are too dangerous.
We know the most aggressive drivers on these roads are from Maryland and we get them every single day," he said.
Residents in Graham's neighborhood agree with the speeding problem but as far Maryland drivers?
"I don't think they're the devils, but it's probably commuters," said District resident Jack Ay.
"I wouldn't call them the devils. People do tend to speed by and we get more of a cop presence here," said John Boyle.
Maryland drivers call the criticism unfair.
"To make a statement that Maryland are the devil obviously comes from someone who is skirting on absurdity," said a Maryland driver identified as Dederick.
"No matter what state you are from, it's all about being on time," said one driver.
