The officers involved in this case have been identified as 26-year-old Hosam Nasr and 27-year-old Michael Callahan. Both are three-year veterans of the department.

Both officers have been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the shooting.

The Metropolitan Police Department (web|news) has identified the man shot to death by officers Friday night in the Trinidad neighborhood of Northeast.

According to Assistant Chief Dianne Groomes, officers were called to investigate the report of a domestic situation in the 1600 block of Trinidad Avenue, NE.

A woman told officers she had been verbally threatened by a man with a knife. The officers say they located the man in the back stairwell of the residence and tried to talk with him.

Police said the officer fired when the suspect lunged at them with a knife. He was taken to Washington Hospital Center's MedStar unit, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police identified the man as 53-year-old Clyde Tinch.

A domestic dispute - watch out now.  They will be yelling police brutality "they did not have to kill him - he never owned a pair of Nikes or had a MP3 player" .  Yak,
Yak.  I hope I am wrong but it seems they can never say "Thank you officer(s) for saving me".  Well, I say good on you guys!  One more gone.
