RICHMOND, Va. - State officials still don't know the extent to which a hacker compromised Virginia's prescription drug monitoring system.

Health and Human Resources Secretary Marilyn Tavenner told the House Appropriations Committee Tuesday that the agency is still assessing what a hacker did on April 30.

Someone accessed into the Department of Health Professions database of prescription drugs such as Methadone, morphine, Vicodin and testosterone.

Millions of health records were stolen.

The FBI (web) and the State Police are trying to find the culprit. Tavenner said she was told the FBI will need more time, and that it was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

But, she added, the FBI can eventually find the needle.
