(Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals optioned pitcher Luke Hochevar to Triple-A Omaha and placed two players on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.
Hochevar surrendered 14 runs in 11 2/3 innings in three starts since being promoted to the big club earlier in the month. The right-hander had been 5-0 with a 0.90 earned-run average in six starts with Omaha.
The club also placed shortstop Mike Aviles (forearm) and reliever Robinson Tejeda (rotator cuff) on the DL.
Aviles has struggled at the plate this season, hitting .183 after recording a .325 clip in his rookie 2008 campaign.
Tejeda appeared in 12 games with KC this season, allowing just five runs in 17 innings pitched.
To fill the roster sports, the Royals recalled pitchers John Bale and Roman Colon and infielder Tug Hulett -- all from Omaha.
