An Arlington County woman says a fire in her condo destroyed decades worth of historical documents and photos.

The blaze broke out in a condo in the 1500 block of Colonial Terrace Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters say the archival material was stacked four-feet high throughout the apartment and made it difficult to fight the fire.

Cheryl Spector says she has been chronicling the history of D.C.'s gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgendered communities for decades.

She fears up to a quarter of her work may have been damaged or destroyed by the fire, smoke and water. No injuries were reported.
