A Virginia woman lost everything in a 2-alarm fire in Woodbridge, days before she was to give birth.
NewsChopper 7 was overhead as Angela Martinez's home burned, leaving the nine-month pregnant woman and her family homeless.
"I know everybody's safe, nobody died, nobody got hurt, nobody got burned, but just to see the kids that all their stuff is gone, our complete home is gone," she said.
The greatest loss for Martinez is her children's clothes, toys, crib, stroller, and car seat for her unborn son.
"Everything was ready. We fixed the yard up, everything was done in the yard. But, now everything is gone. I don't care about my stuff, that that the kids get a home again," said Martinez.
Tuesday, Friends and co-workers reached out to help Martinez at the day care where she works. Families were donating items to help her get back on her feet and ready to become a mother again.
"Our hearts go out to her. We're just trying to find out from her what she wants replaced," said co-worker, Peggy Murphy, "Whatever she needs, we're there for her."
People who didn't even know Martinez showed compassion and generosity for the young mother and her family.
"I'm a people person. I love giving and helping out others so, I thought that I'd just go and donate what I could," said Travis Ridley.
Martinez's husband is in the Army, so the family is hoping to get temporary housing on Fort Belvoir. Authorities said the fire did $300,000 worth of damage. No cause has been determined.
