(Sports Network) - Shameka Christon scored 25 points, and the New York Liberty rode a huge first quarter to a 77-63 win over the Seattle Storm at Madison Square Garden. Janel McCarville added 12 points for the Liberty, who snapped a two-game losing streak and won for just the second time this season. Loree Moore finished with nine points, while Tiffany Jackson and Lisa Willis came off the bench to contribute eight points each.
Lauren Jackson had 19 points to lead the Storm, who had a two-game win streak snapped. Sheryl Swoopes scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Sue Bird scored 10.

The Liberty pulled away immediately, outscoring Seattle 22-6 in the opening quarter. The Storm rallied in the second, pulling within two, 38-36, at halftime, but New York rebuilt its cushion throughout the second half, thanks largely to nine three pointers and 23 Seattle turnovers.
