"The IOC does not recognize any 'interim committee' nor any other officers appointed by the Iraqi government," a statement released by the IOC read. "The IOC will invite representatives of the Iraqi government authorities in order to analyze the situation and find appropriate solutions."

There was no word from the IOC as to whether Iraqi athletes who qualify for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Beijing would be allowed to participate.
