Officials are again warning motorists near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge this weekend to expect delays and consider alternate routes.

Starting Friday night, the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway will be reduced from three to two lanes between Telegraph Road and the Eisenhower Connector interchange. Workers will be shifting traffic to a new three-lane alignment that will be in place until 2011.

The road had widened to four lanes in part of the area. But new Beltway lanes are being created to separate local and long-distance travelers.

Also this weekend, the southbound lanes of Route 1 will be closed between Franklin Street and Fort Hunt Road in Alexandria (web|news) . The closure is planned for 6 a.m. Sunday through the afternoon.
