(Sports Network) - USA Hockey selected Anaheim Ducks executive vice president/general manager Brian Burke on Friday to be general manager of the 2010 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team. Burke was hired by Anaheim on June 20, 2005 and led the Ducks to a Stanley Cup championship in 2007, when they ousted the Ottawa Senators in five games.
"I'm very grateful and honored to be part of the U.S. Olympic Team," Burke said. "We hope to put a team together in 2010 that Americans can be proud of."

In his three seasons at the helm, Anaheim has posted a record of 138-74-34.
"We could not be more pleased than to have Brian as our general manager," said Ron DeGregorio, president of USA Hockey. "His record of accomplishment speaks for itself. Brian's drive and fire for the game rub off on you and it's that type of passion that will help lead us to our ultimate goal of winning the gold medal."
The United States hasn't struck gold since the 1980 'Miracle on Ice' squad defeated Finland in Lake Placid.
The 2010 Olympic Winter Games are scheduled take place from February 12-28 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
