Firefighters in Southern California say they are close to containing a wildfire that briefly threatened some homes.Kern County fire inspector Tony Diffenbaugh says teams expect to have the blaze in Tejon Pass contained by midday Saturday.
The fire broke out Friday morning and charred about 500 acres - less than a square mile - of brush and grass along Interstate 5 in the Tehachapi Mountains.
At one point Friday, residents of a canyon were advised to leave because of the fire.
Diffenbaugh says the threat to homes was over by Friday evening and no damage was reported.
