Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., one of Hillary Rodham Clinton (web|news|bio) 's staunchest supporters, is following Clinton's lead and endorsing Barack Obama (web|news|bio) .
Mikulski was a national chair of Clinton's campaign. Clinton suspended her bid for president Saturday and backed Obama. Mikulski says she's proud to join Clinton in her endorsement of Obama, calling the end of the drawn-out Democratic primary battle "a historic event." She says she'll lend her "voice and energy" to Obama's campaign.
Maryland's senior senator also says her respect for Clinton only increased during the grueling campaign.
