(Sports Network) - Sixth-seeded Italian Potito Starace was an easy first-round winner Monday at the $670,000 Warsaw Open. Starace leveled Polish wild card Dawid Olejniczak 6-2, 6-3 and will face Russian Evgeny Korolev in the round of 16 here.

This clay-court event had previously been held in Sopot.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion? In some other Day-1 action, Czech Jiri Vanek overcame Argentine Carlos Berlocq 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5); Korolev handled Romanian Victor Hanescu 6-4, 6-2; Brazilian Marcos Daniel downed Italian Filippo Volandri 6-3, 6-4; and France's Florent Serra was leading Argentine Guillermo Coria 6-3 when the former top-10 star retired from the match due to a left wrist injury. Coria won this tournament back in 2003.

This week's top seeds are Russian star Nikolay Davydenko and Spaniard Tommy Robredo, who beat Argentine Jose Acasuso in last year's finale in Sopot and also captured the event in 2001. Davydenko won this tournament in 2006, while Acasuso took it in 2002.
