Ching played a part in all three of his team's goals, scoring two and providing an assist, in Houston's 3-1 victory over Toronto FC on Sunday.

"I thought the whole team played well [Sunday]," Ching said. "We were a little unpredictable at times, but we were dangerous. I thought we created a number of great opportunities in the first half, but not finishing them could come back to bite you. I think the heat got to them as well."

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion? The win also propelled Houston into a tie with the Los Angeles Galaxy for first place in the Western Conference table.

"Going into this game, we knew that if we won we would be tied with L.A. up top," Ching said. "It was definitely a topic of discussion and was something we had on our mind. We went out there and played well for that reason."

The Dynamo scored the first goal first-half stoppage time. Ching began the play by winning a loose ball in the midfield and flicking a header behind the TFC defense to an on-running Dwayne De Rosario. As Toronto goalkeeper Greg Sutton dove for the ball, De Rosario chipped it over him and into the back of the net.

"It kills you, really, but that's fair," Toronto coach John Carver said of the goal just before halftime. "They had enough chances before the last minute to have us buried, so I'm not going to stand here making any excuses. But you're thinking can we get in halftime nil-nil, get them organized, get them going again. So it's a killer blow. When you go into injury time, there's seconds left, and you defend the way we defended, you're not going to win a game."

Houston began to pull away early in the second half when Ching headed home his first goal seven minutes after the break for the game-winner. Ching added his second of the game with 21 minutes to play to make it 3-0 before TFC could pull one back.

This is the third career MLS Player of the Week award for Ching, who won previously in Week 1 of the 2006 season and Week 16 of the 2004 season while playing for the San Jose Earthquakes.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from The North American Soccer Reporters (NASR). Full disclosure of the votes can be found at http://www.soccerreporters.com/.
