A Florida man who had an arsenal of weapons has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of threatening on the Internet to stage a Virginia Tech-type massacre.Under a plea deal announced Wednesday, 20-year-old Calin Chi Wong of Homestead would avoid prison time. But Wong would have to forfeit all his guns to the government, serve five years' probation and perform 150 hours of community service. A federal judge must still decide whether to accept the deal. The maximum sentence Wong could face is five years.
The FBI (
web) says Wong made the threats in March through an Internet chat room used by gun enthusiasts. Agents found assault weapons, handguns and thousands of rounds of ammunition at his home.
