New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine has nominated former Washington, D.C., schools superintendent Clifford Janey to head New Jersey's largest school district.

He will replace Marion Bolden as chief of the school system in Newark.

D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty dismissed Janey one year ago this week, after three years of service in the District. Fenty's office assumed direct control of the D.C schools, saying the system needed "radical change." Fenty then appointed Michelle Rhee to the new position of chancellor.
