Miguel Cabrera hit a game-ending solo homer in the ninth inning and the Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox 2-1 Thursday to complete a three-game sweep. Magglio Ordonez led off the bottom of the ninth with a long drive to left, bringing the sold-out crowd to its feet, but Carlos Quentin made the catch at the wall. Cabrera then hit a 2-1 pitch from Octavio Dotel (3-3) into the stands in right-center field. Cabrera's ninth homer of the season came after a nice pitching duel between Detroit's Kenny Rogers and White Sox left-hander Mark Buehrle. Both starters allowed one run in eight innings, and the game lasted just 2 hours, 4 minutes.

Detroit tied it at 1 in the sixth. Carlos Guillen singled in Edgar Renteria with one out, putting runners on first and third. Buehrle then got Magglio Ordonez to pop out and retired Cabrera on a fielder's choice to end the inning.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion? Chicago took the lead in the second inning. Paul Konerko hit a leadoff double into right-center field and advanced to third when right fielder Ryan Raburn misplayed the carom. Jermaine Dye followed with a sacrifice fly to center.

Quentin started the ninth with a single off Todd Jones (2-0), but Konerko grounded into a double play.

Buehrle allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out six. Rogers gave up four hits, walked one and struck out one.
