Two former employees of the Frederick County Sheriff's Office have pleaded guilty to misappropriating nearly $19,000 from a fraternal police organization.

Fifty-year-old Stuart Dougherty and his 36-year-old wife, Carrie, both pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor Thursday in Rockville.

The couple were accused of misappropriating funds from a Fraternal Order of Police lodge where he was president and she was treasurer.

They resigned their jobs with the county sheriff's office in December. Stuart Dougherty had been a correctional officer; Carrie Dougherty worked in fiscal services.

Both defendants are scheduled to be sentenced in August.
