A woman charged with murder after being found at home with the decomposing bodies of her four daughters says she is anxious to go to trial.
Banita Jacks told a judge Friday that she sees no reason to continue attending pre-trial hearings as prosecutors work toward securing her indictment.
But District of Columbia Superior Court Judge Frederick Weisberg told Jacks she must attend all court proceedings, saying her attorney might need her input at a moment's notice.
Jacks was arrested in January, after the bodies of the girls were found when U.S. marshals served an eviction notice at a row house in southeast Washington.
Prosecutors have until October to present the case to a grand jury, but Weisberg has expressed impatience and has set a follow-up hearing for Sept. 12.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Deborah Sines says FBI (web) officials are continuing to examine evidence taken from the remains.
