A spokesman for Hamas says representatives plan to travel to Cairo to discuss an Egyptian-mediated truce with Israel. Gaza-based Hamas spokesman Ayman Taha says the Hamas officials will listen to Egyptian mediators and then discuss with senior members what position to take. Egyptian officials are mediating between Hamas and Israel to secure a truce in Gaza. Israel's envoy left Egypt on Thursday after conveying his country's position.

Negotiations are faltering over each side's demands.
