A Fredericksburg man remains hospitalized after being hit by a tractor-trailer when he stumbled onto Interstate 95 following a car accident.

Virginia State Police Sergeant F.L. Tyler says 46-year-old Albert Francis Fehrens was being treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital for injuries suffered Tuesday afternoon. The hospital would not release Fehrens' condition on Wednesday, citing privacy issues.

Witnesses told police that Fehrens crashed his car into a tree on the side of I-95 near mile marker 130 then stumbled into southbound traffic. He was struck by the tractor-trailer in the center lane.
